A Virtual Memorial is the perfect option for those who do not want to let distance get in the way of being together during a time of loss. It can include all of the same elements as an in-person memorial service, such as a spiritual or religious element, speaker tributes, music, slideshows and a time for guests to share their personal stories and memories. Even if you are unable to be in the same room as your friends and family, we can create a loving virtual space for everyone to come together and actually feel like they are really together.

A memorial service is very similar to a funeral service, however, there is usually no body present at a memorial service. Memorial services tend to be thought of as “less traditional” than a funeral service, however you can include as much as tradition as is meaningful for you. There is no right or wrong way to have a memorial service.
-
A virtual memorial can take the place of an in-person memorial. However, if it is meaningful for you to also gather in person, then by all means you should when you are able to.

A Death Doula is a non-medical support person who is able to holistically support people and their loved ones throughout the experience of dying- before, during, and after. Often, Death Doulas have their own specific offerings, but may include support with: end-of-life paperwork, clarifying end-of-life wishes, facilitating end-of-life conversations amongst loved ones, companionship for the dying, assisting in household chores and errands, relieving caregivers, legacy work, funeral planning, home funeral assistance, and more. Some Death Doulas also work with people who are not necessarily at the end of their life but want to explore their feelings around their mortality or want to start planning ahead by writing a living will, exploring meaningful funeral options, and solidifying their end-of-life wishes.

A virtual memorial can be very similar to an in-person memorial. There can be religious elements, speakers, a eulogy, reflections, readings, music (live or recorded), slideshows… the main difference is location. By having a virtual service, you can do all of this from the comfort of your own home.
